fishing charterThe Juan de Fuca Strait is one of the best places in the world to fish for salmon and halibut. Sooke's mild climate allows for year-round fishing.
May through September you can fish for Chinook salmon (5 to 50 lbs), Sockeye salmon (5 to 12 lbs), Coho salmon (5 to 24 pounds), and Pink salmon (5 to 8 lbs). Chum salmon (6 to 20 lbs) can be caught July through October and Winter Chinooks (5 to 20 lbs) from November into March.
Halibut can get up to and over 200 pounds here, but the range is usually 30 - 70 pounds (the legal maximum length for halibut to keep is 133 cm at this time). They're fun to catch. Pulling one up from the deep is a thrill! Excellent fishing can be found only 20 - 30 minutes from Sooke.
golfingThere are many great golf courses in the Victoria area, and even in winter are beautiful days that invite to a round of golf.
